Isles hit the road for a weekday matchup with Acadie-Bathurst
Your Charlottetown Islanders have been one of the hottest teams in the QMJHL this season, and goaltender Matt Welsh deserves much of the credit. Welsh has won 15 of his last 18 starts, propelling his team to a record of 17-5 in their last 22 games.
The Titan sit third in the QMJHL standings with a record of 18-8-4-2, leading the Maritime Division.
Acadie-Bathurst has scored the 4th most goals in the leagues this season, netting 116.
Much of the Titan offence has been coming from the power play, which has been operating at 25.2%, good for 3rd best in the QMJHL.
On the other end of the ice, the Titan have allowed the 5th fewest goals in the league, with only 90 getting past their netminders. Starting goaltender Reilly Pickard has been at the top of his game this season, boasting a record of 14-4-3-1, while maintaining the 3rd best GAA in the QMJHL (2.46).
The Titan power play may have been good, but their penalty killing is even better. Acadie-Bathurst hold the second best penalty killing percentage in the league, killing off 82.3% of their opportunities.
A player to spotlight for the Titan is Summerside native, Noah Dobson. Dobson’s 27 assists rank him first among QMJHL defencemen in that category, while his 31 points rank him second on the Titan in points, and third among the league’s defencemen.
