Islanders ready for Game 7 on the road

It’s do or die for your Charlottetown Islanders as they make their way to Blainville-Boisbriand for Game 7 of the President Cup Semi-Finals.

These teams have been evenly matched throughout the series with all but the first game being decided by one goal.

For the Armada they will continue to lean on their trio of elite scorers in Drake Batherson, Alexandre Alain and Alex Barre-Boulet who have accounted for nine of the team’s 14 goals in the series.

For the Islanders a combination of two rookies and a veteran has done wonders for their offence with Brett Budgell, Nikita Alexandrov and Cameron Askew coming up big for their team when faced with elimination in Game 6. Each member of the line recorded a least a goal with Askew scoring the overtime winner to force Game 7. Each linemate earned Three Stars of the Game honours.

Alexandrov now leads the Islanders in playoff scoring, operating at a point-per game pace, striking for seven goals and 10 assists in 17 games. The German rookie’s 17 points rank him 5th overall in scoring, trailing a trio of Aramda forwards, including Batherson’s league-leading 25 points, and Acadie-Bathurst overage forward Jeffrey Truchon-Viel.

Puck drop tonight is set for 8:00PM AST and you can follow every second of the action with George Matthews and Cory Arsenault on Fair Isle Ford Isles Radio and Ocean 100.
