As the trade period opens at the 2017 QMJHL Draft in Saint John, the Charlottetown Islanders have made a deal.

General Manager Jim Hulton announced on Friday morning that the Islanders have traded goaltender Mark Grametbauer to the Moncton Wildcats, along with a 8th round pick in this year’s draft.

In return, the Islanders have acquired 18-year-old centre Samuel Meisenheimer, 17-year-old defenceman Noah Massie, a 3rd round pick in 2017, a 5th round pick in 2017 and a 3rd round pick in 2018.

Meisenheimer is a Viking, Alberta native who had 4 goals and 4 assists in 48 games with the last place Wildcats last season.

Massie played in 43 games for the Wildcats last season. He is a St-Lazare, Quebec native and stands at 6’1, 200 lbs.

Grametbauer played in 17 regular season games and 12 playoff games for the Islanders, winning 22 of 29.

We wish Mark the best of luck in Moncton. And we welcome Samuel and Noah to the Islanders!
