Momentum is key as the Islanders prepare for Game 4 at home

The Islanders have a chance to end their second round series on Wednesday night as they take on the Halifax Mooseheads in Game 4 at the EastLink Centre in Charlottetown.

Coming into Wednesday, the Islanders have won three straight games against Halifax and have set themselves up for an exciting finish to the series.

Despite a goaltending change for the Mooseheads the Islanders were not fazed, going on to fire five shots past former Islander Blade Mann-Dixon and take a pivitol Game 3 by a score of 5-2.

Nikita Alexandrov stay red-hot in Game 3, picking up a goal and an assist giving him 12 points through 10 games this post-season, tying him for 3rd in league scoring.

Pascal Aquin also built off a week of solid play, as the playoff leader in goals showed his playmaking side on Wednesday picking up two assists to slide into second place in league scoring with 13 points. Aquin’s effort have not gone unnoticed as the Islanders overage forward received Ultramar QMJHL Player of the Week honours on Monday before being named the Canadian Hockey League’s player of the week late on Tuesday night.

The Islanders penalty killing unit slumped slightly in Game 3 with the Mooseheads capitalizing on two of their four opportunities, but on the other side of special teams, the Islanders power play continues to flourish.

Charlottetown stuck again on the man-advantage on Tuesday, giving the team a total of 10 power play goals and increasing their scoring rate to 34.5 per cent in the series.
