PREVIEW: Islanders-Sea Dogs’ final battle in front of sold out crowd

The Charlottetown Islanders and Saint John Sea Dogs will do battle for the 9th and final time tonight in front of a SOLD OUT Eastlink Centre.

With just two regular season games remaining before the playoffs start, the hype is real.

The puck will be dropped off at 7pm. Here’s what you need to know:

Standings: The Sea Dogs have already clinched first place in both the Maritime Division and the QMJHL. The Islanders will finish behind the division leaders in fourth place.

Series: The Islanders are 2-6 against the Sea Dogs this season. The Islanders won the first and third meetings of the season (Sept. 23 and Nov. 6). They have yet to be the Sea Dogs since then.

Scoring: In the eight games so far, the Sea Dogs have outscored the Islanders 36-20. In the last four meetings, the Islanders have failed to score more than two goals in each game.

However, the Islanders are the highest scoring team in the entire QMJHL this season, with the Sea Dogs in second. They’ve scored 295 goals in the 66 games played, while Saint John has scored 282.

Lineups: Islanders Head Coach and GM has said he doesn’t plan to rest his stars during the final games of the regular season.

Meanwhile, the Sea Dogs have recalled a few players from Midget for this final weekend. It’ll be interesting to see each team’s lineup on Friday night.
