The three finalists for the 2018 Marcel-Robert Trophy unveiled



BOUCHERVILLE, QC – The three finalists for the Marcel-Robert trophy were selected on Monday. The trophy is awarded annually to the QMJHL’s Scholastic Player of the Year. The winner is the player who best combines on-ice performance with school success.

The three finalists for 2018 are:

  • Alexandre Alain – Blainville-Boisbriand Armada
  • Antoine Samuel – Quebec Remparts
  • Matthew Welsh –  Charlottetown Islanders

All three candidates were interviewed in order to evaluate their academic and athletic accomplishments. In addition, critical thinking skills and knowledge of current events were tested.


The members of the independent selection committee for the 2018 Marcel-Robert Trophy are:

Sébastien Fyfe – President of the Marcel-Robert Committee and General Manager of Alliance Sport-Études and Fondation Sport-Études
Jonathan Brunelle – Former Marcel-Robert Trophy award-winner
Sébastien Goulet – Play-by-play commentator and columnist, TVA Sports
David Urquhart – Assistant Coach, McGill University Redmen
Sylvain Arbour – Director of Marketing, Fenplast

The winner will be unveiled during the Golden Puck Awards Gala which will be presented at the Étoile Theatre, in Brossard on April 4th.
