Keith Getson scored the game winner for the second night in a row as the Charlottetown Islanders defeated the Baie-Comeau Drakkar 4-1 in game four of the first-round playoff series, brought to you by Roland Tours.
With the win, the Islanders sweep the Drakkar 4-0 and advance to the second round.
Getson’s goal came at 1:51 of the third period, and was assisted by Pascal Aquin.
Getson was celebrating his 19th birthday on Wednesday. The goal, and the series sweep, will make for quite a present.
Dillon Boucher scored at 3:55 of the first period to open the scoring in the game. Gregor MacLeod (who made his QMJHL playoff debut) and Tyler MacArthur had the assists.
The Drakkar tied the game at 14:23 of the first frame with a goal from Samuel Thibault.
The second period had no scoring, with both goaltenders Mark Grametbauer (CHA) and Antoine Samuel (BaC) playing outstanding in their respective net.
Getson’s goal gave the Islanders a lead they would not relinquish.
Pascal Aquin would score one of his own at 10:47. It was assisted by Getson and Carl Neill.
Filip Chlapik would put the icing on the Drakkar’s cake at 17:45. He scored on an empty net to make it a 4-1 game.
Grametbauer stopped 29 of 30 in the win, and is 4-0 so far this playoffs.
Samuel stopped 43 of 46 in the Drakkar net.
This is the first ever series sweep in the Islanders history, and the third straight year that the organization has advanced to the second round of the QMJHL playoffs.
The Islanders will now wait for its second-round series to be determined, which will begin at the Eastlink Centre.
