The Charlottetown Islanders are rolling right now. With all the momentum on their side, the Isles have headed to Quebec and will meet the Drummondville Voltigeurs in the first of three games in La Belle Province this weekend.

The Islanders (23-27-5-1) are winners of four straight games and five of their past seven games. Once at risk of missing the playoffs, Charlottetown sits ten points clear of the 17th overall Saint John Sea Dogs and firmly in 7th place in the Eastern Conference standings, just one point behind the Baie-Comeau Drakkar with two games in hand. Charlottetown is coming off a big 6-3 victory over the Acadie-Bathurst Titan at home on Sunday afternoon.

The Voltigeurs (23-38-4-1) ended a short three-game losing streak on Sunday afternoon with an admirable 3-1 victory over the high-powered Victoriaville Tigres. Drummondville is a different team than when they first played Charlottetown this season; once expected to be a strong team in the Western Conference, they’ve made moves to try and better position themselves for the future.

Sam Bowness will serve a one-game suspension for accumulation of code (third fighting major). Jakob Robillard gets the start in goal

Defenseman Mikael Diotte returns from a two-game suspension. Former Islander Drew Elliott (upper body) is sidelined for the remainder of the season. Forward Justin Côté (upper body) and goaltender Riley Mercer (lower body) are considered day-to-day and aren’t expected to play tonight.

  • Souris, PE’s Ross Campbell recorded his first goal career QMJHL goal against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan Sunday afternoon. He’s had a strong season since being recalled from the Charlottetown Knights (NBPEIMU18HL) with eight points in 23 games this season.
  • Former Voltigeur forward Simon Hughes returns to his old stomping grounds amidst a three-game point streak. Hughes has ten goals and 15 points in 24 games as an Islander

  • Former Islander Xavier Fortin has been enjoying his time in Drummondville, with 19 points in 22 games with the Voltigeurs. With 274 games, Fortin has played the third-most games of any player drafted in the 2018 QMJHL Draft.
  • Forward Jérémy Lapointe is far and away the top goal-scorer on the Voltigeurs. Lapointe leads Drummondville with 30 goals on the season, 11 more than the next closest player.

Charlottetown defeated the Voltigeurs 4-1 on October 16th in the only other matchup between the two teams this season.
