After a highly competitive first 48 hours of training camp, the Charlottetown Islanders hit the road for their first pre-season game against the Saint John Sea Dogs in Quispamsis, New Brunswick. The rookies in camp have taken part in some fantastic scrimmages that are sure to be giving the coaching staff lots to think about when it comes to roster decisions.
The team has also announced the following roster moves:
– Defenceman Malcolm Genge and forwards Justin Hardie and Charles-Edward Tardif have elected to leave training camp in order to protect their NCAA eligibility. Hardie was a 17-year old free agent invite from Halifax Nova Scotia, while Tardif was drafted in the eighth round in the 2019 QMJHL Draft.
– Forward Sam Archibald will be out for the remainder of training camp with a broken leg.
– Forward Ben Boyd is currently day-to-day with a charley horse.
Don’t forget that the Islanders first home preseason game takes place on Tuesday night at 7:00pm against the Moncton Wildcats, and you can catch all of the action from the APM Centre in Cornwall! Tickets are available at the door and are just $10 for adults and seniors, and $5 for students and youth. We hope to see you there!
