Training Camp Update – September 2nd, 2020

The Charlottetown Islanders 2020 ADL Training Camp continued today with the team’s first exhibition game of the pre-season, a matinee showdown in Moncton against the Wildcats.

The young and hungry Wildcats came ready to play; Moncton forward Dominic Leblanc led the way with a goal 49 seconds in to the game and added two assists as the Wildcats defeated the Islanders 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon.

2020 1st round pick Yoan Loshing and Jacob Stewart each added a goal and an assist while Nicholas Sheehan and Gio DiMattia combined for 24 saves in the victory.

For Charlottetown, Ryan Maynard was the lone goalscorer in the game. The big defender from Kapuskasing, Ontario fired a hard slapshot from the point that skimmed along the ice and beat DiMattia clean between the legs for the third period goal. Keiran Gallant and Patrick LeBlanc added assists on the goal.

Jacob Goobie started the game for Charlottetown and made 12 saves. Chad Arsenault played the second half of the game and made 9 saves. Anthony Hamel made his physical presence felt, as he led all players with three hits in the game.

“While disappointed with today’s result, the game served as a valuable evaluation tool as we strive to build our final roster,” said Islanders head coach Jim Hulton on the outcome. “As the score indicated, we struggled in many areas but overall the effort was decent. We look forward to a big bounce back effort tomorrow.”

The Islanders and Wildcats will do it all over again tomorrow when they meet at the Avenir Centre at 2:00pm. You can catch all the action on our YouTube page,! Cory Arsenault will have the call as always!
